I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream

What better way to cool off on a hot summer day? Ice cream obviously. Not only will your body temperature be happy but your taste buds will be DELIGHTED. This year National Ice Cream Day falls on Sunday July 17th. Use that lazy summer Sunday afternoon to get yourself a delicious, and sometimes uniquely flavored treat! A combo of tasty recipes and great atmosphere, we’ve compiled a great list of some of our favorite ice cream shops throughout Brooklyn!

Whether you’re a strawberry, chocolate, or vanilla type of person, these shops surely have their own unique spin on the classics. We decided to pick shops that specialize in unique hand dipped flavors, some of them so crazy we couldn’t believe these dairy geniuses came up with these concoctions.

First shop on the list is Ample Hills:

Ample Hills:

Known for their organic dairy, the people behind this delicious ice cream pasteurizes their own ice cream making them a rare find. They’re a registered dairy plant aka they know their stuff! Obviously ice cream isn’t anything without toppings, and Ample Hills certainly puts equal amounts of love into baking some of the most delicious and moist mix-ins out there. I don’t know about you but I have my eye on their Mexican Hot Chocolate Flavor 🌶

And don’t worry they have three locations in Brooklyn as well as others in Manhattan and Queens so plenty of opportunities to visit one of their shops to get your hands on their cream.

Gowanus

Next up is Oddfellows and they are as odd as they come!

Oddfellows:

Another shop that makes their own ice cream base; they rotate their 14 flavor options everyday. These wild flavors range from Honey + Salted Sunflower 🌻 to Miso Cherry🍒to Chocolate Chunk 🍫

Located right in Williamsburg, you can hop on the L to hit up their second location in the East Village in case the Williamsburg location doesn’t have Ants on a Log sorbet🐜

We’ll leave this delicious list with Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream. I think its safe to say any Brooklynite is very aware of their yellow ice cream trucks stopped at different locations throughout Brooklyn and if not definitely check them out!

Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream:

Providing classic dairy treats and vegan options for those lactose intolerant individuals (SUCKS), Van Leeuwen Ice Cream again offers up organic ingredients and of course a lot of tender sweet love into their treats. This shop certainly should not be missed on your Tour de Ice Cream excursion. Also trust us, do not skip out on either their Vegan or Classic Salted Caramel Flavor 💯
