“My name is Tim Lopez. I was born in Manila, Philippines, raised in Vallejo, California & New York City, where I now currently reside. One of my very first experience in photography growing up, was my Pikachu Point and shoot film camera given to me when I was six. I remember growing up I always had a fascination for people and their faces, clicking away where there are people. However growing up, being born with a heart problem, it restricted me from going out or much less having a life. Though for me, photography has always been an escape and a way to live life through curiosity. It wasn’t until freshman year of high school, where I picked up a camera again, this time shooting school events, friends, and the school games. From there, I became the school photographer, working for the year book and school news paper. It wasn’t until my senior year of high school, where I got the opportunity to shoot for a modeling agency, working for the first time in the fashion industry. Going into college, I quickly knew what I wanted to do, which was to study journalism. With my fascination in people and their stories, I shot and always tried to make mini series based on everyone I met and their lives. Now finishing my last year, I’m currently working as a freelance photographer & freelance photojournalist, while in the pursuit of obtaining a masters in Photojournalism.”
Tim is a member of the @barangaybois and will be showcasing his work at the June 22nd show!
